Sustainability at The Railpenny Tavern
At The Railpenny Tavern, we're always looking for practical ways to reduce waste and invest in our building for the future. From rooftop solar panels to composting and recycling, we're making thoughtful choices about how we operate.
Solar Energy
In April 2026, we completed the installation of 57 rooftop solar panels in partnership with local solar company True Enterprises.
The 23.7 kW system is expected to generate approximately 26,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, allowing us to produce electricity right here at the restaurant.
It's a long-term investment in our building and one we're proud to make in our Epping community.

Composting
We collect our food waste for composting, helping keep it out of the traditional waste stream.
Reducing Single-Use Plastics
We use paper and compostable takeout containers to reduce our reliance on plastic packaging.
Cooking Oil Recycling
Our used cooking oil is collected and recycled rather than discarded.
